mythe: loneliness myth that marriage will end our loneliness.
réalité: many married people are still very lonely.
mythe: fulfillment fallacy which makes us believe that being married makes us complete human beings.
réalité: a couple complements one another, not completes one another.
mythe: marriage is for everyone.
réalité: there are a lot of unmarried people who are extremely happy.
mythe: monogamy myth makes a couple believe that they are the only ones who are dealing with infidelity or that it only happens to bad or weak people.
réalité: it is a societal issue that needs to be openly addressed so that monogamy becomes more attainable for more people.
mythe: romance will always be alive in a good marriage.
réalité: nearly all relationships experience peaks and valleys. the everyday problems and challenges of married life can often cloud over romantic feelings. this is when making the decision to love is important.
mythe: marriage makes people happy.
réalité: we can't expect our spouse to be our one source of happiness. our personal happiness must come from within ourselves. marriage can complement our own individual happiness but it can't be the primary source.
mythe: we won't have major problems if we truly love one another.
réalité: a good marriage doesn't just happen. it takes nurturing and work.
mythe: my spouse should know my needs without my saying anything.
réalité: just because we're married doesn't mean we can read minds. we have to tell our spouses what our needs are.
mythe: conflict means a lack of love.
réalité: conflict happens in every marriage. fighting fair and for the relationship, and not just to "win" is healthy in a marriage.

here is what i understand of the israel and palestinian situation. from reading posts by other people from the atheist forum, from the internet, and from discussions with friends. i know its more complicated than what i will present here. i will try to keep it as objective as possible.
history. jewish kingdoms ruled over that region (what is now the state of israel) for a millenium (a little over than 1 thousand years). this region was then taken over by others throughout history. it was ruled over by the assyrians, babylonians, persians, greeks, romans, byzantines, and briefly, by the sassanids. my opinion is. it was a bad idea to establish a state of jews in the middle of arab/moslem ruled land. it would have been better if the nations supporting the state of israel, open its own doors for the jews. but thats being unrealistic. during world war 2, it seemed the perfect solution to the high anti-semitism in europe, to allow european jews to immigrate to palestine. jews from all over the region were expelled to israel.
11 bce. jewish kingdoms ruled over region
132 ce. the roman empire named it syria palaestina.
638 ce. moslems took it from the byzantines
1517 ce. ottoman empire.
1881 ce. immigration. jews bought land from ottomans and arab landholders
1920s ce. balfour declaration **. europe jews refugees. arabs are furious.
1940s ce. more immigration. escated violence. arabs vs jews.
1947 ce. britian withdrew from mandate of palestine. UN partition plan.
1948 ce. israel established. more immigration. refugees from europe. arab israeli war ..
1950s-60s ce. israel vs iraq egypt jordan syria
1970s ce. israel egypt peace treaty (first recognition of the state)
1980s ce. israel attacks lebanon iraq
today ce. israel invades lebanon
today. the arab israeli war has created many refugees. dommage collateral. children growing up to a world of hunger poverty and violence. and this is how terrorists are created.
