audio podcastamazon women, their femininity and strength, have always been an inspiration. probably because it is not often displayed in real life. but rather we see pathetic and submissive women whose sole purpose is to please men. alpha females are a rare breed.
my opinion on this debate between christopher hitchens, the author of the best seller book entitled god is not great, and the reverend sharpton. i thought that hitchens was very well informed. he is an inspiring mind. something i dont see everyday. the information he said about a certain catholic bishop who orchestrated the protection of pedophiles and the history of the mormon church, the history of american founding fathers who stood for the separation of church and state. these are information that people should be aware of but their not (we are not). religion robs the mind. and the reverend himself is testimony to this. the reverend had only his firm belief to offer, that there is a god and that he was not the least bit interested in evidence. he regards highly his personal faith and then turns around and down plays the role of faith when bush jr. invaded iraq. the reverend used a lot of rhetoric, the strawman argument, very little substance.
the HR manager spoke to me about the email that i had sent on religion at work. i asked if it (god blessings on emails, bible quotes on reports, prolonged prayers in the name of whoever what deity at assemblies) was acceptable. except if the company has converted to christianity then they must put a cross on top of the building so emloyees and foreign guests will be greeted accordingly with a good dose of christian symbology. hows that? (see building where i work on my blog)
is there coercion involved? i would say yes because for a company to be allowing these practices , first undermines the beliefs of non chrisitians (even if they say its not a problem - is it ethical for the company to allow it?), second it then follows that the establishment itself officially supports or gives extra favor towards that religion/church. maybe in the future christian charities will have better attention than moslem charities? what about seular charities? what other perks are there? well, company holidays for example. christian holidays are now celebrated. while if not for the government enforcing it, islamic ramadan wont be celebrated. which brings us to what about ganesh? hehehehe the cute elephant god? all this, it just so happens (or does it?) that many of the people at the top of the food chain are religious christians.some argue that if we were to be transported to the middle east, would we not just shut up and accept the status quo? companies requiring everyone to do islamic practices or hide when they're doing their stuff. thats another point i want to make, this is not even a good argument. do we want a company where we work, where in religious practices are enforced? during work hours, at the work place? where if you are not christian you will be harassed because you have a different creed. "you have been taken over by the holy spirit max!" i would encounter ..
at the end of the day, this is probably just me. i believe that i have done my job in raising the people's awareness about these issues.
