Parishioners vs. 3 priests .. SNIP .. The alleged failure of the priests to account for the church’s income and expenses from cash donations during every mass and their “hostile attitude” toward different church-based organizations, except for the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), dismayed the parishioners. MORE SNIP .. “The priests are corrupt and always asking for a second collection for a certain project, but the project was delayed because they gave priority to buy(ing) luxurious cars, which is in violation of their vow of poverty,” it added.
Why I wonder is this not under the jurisdiction of the law - criminal law? Is this not embezzlement? I am disappointed however to learn that they are only asking for a transfer. A transfer is not the solution. In fact, it only gives these priests another chance to embezzle more money. I am happy that cebu parishoners spoke out. I suspect that for most people, these things are ignored. And Padre Damaso and his cohorts is left to spend church money on whim.
This brings up another question. I know for a fact that people donate money under the presumption that it goes to charity. How much of it really does go to charity? This is not something that is unique to the Cebu parish. It happens all the time.

bon ou mauvais pour la société
Societies worse off 'when they have God on their side' [snip] The study concluded that the US was the world’s only prosperous democracy where murder rates were still high, and that the least devout nations were the least dysfunctional. Mr Paul said that rates of gonorrhea in adolescents in the US were up to 300 times higher than in less devout democratic countries. The US also suffered from “ uniquely high” adolescent and adult syphilis infection rates, and adolescent abortion rates, the study suggested ... “The widely held fear that a Godless citizenry must experience societal disaster is therefore refuted.”
i thought it obvious, just look at the theocracies of today. im not clear on what the article and/or the research is saying. it seems a fine line but still it is important to distinguish between these two points --- is the article saying religion is to be blamed. is religion the cause for the social ills? or it is merely saying religion is not the solution?
if religion is the cause, how so? i think the research should have been more in depth. as this is the more important question, how does religion cause these social ills.
i can only offer an analogy of a dog who's been deprived of food. the term "asong ulol" (crazy dog) comes to mind. the dog being so hungry is unable to restrain itself. and at the first oppurtunity of food, it becomes out of control being . it falls into a rampage.
religion then is the process of starvation, and society in time becomes agitated from all the rules and deprivation thereby making them do harmful things -- social ills.

i remember how it was like. i had been laid off twice. and even if it gets easier the second time around, nobody truly recovers from it. i haven't. not really. i know it has been a long time since but still the memory is intact. we were herded into a room separate from the 'safe ones' and then a guy dropped the bomb. "we regret to inform you that ... blah blah blah"
i was in shock to react that moment. it was when i got home after is when i collapse into tears. it was only years later that i realise that maybe getting laid off was maybe the best thing that has ever happened to me. it became an easy decision to come back and be with my parents and family.
i can only sympathise with those people who have just been laid off from lawson and accenture. i know how it is like. they say people need to be financially prepared at least 6 months worth of salary. the same amount of time statistically it takes to get out of being in transit.
des photos aléatiores de mon portable ... (this is AJ who reminds me of my mother, a view from a hill near my parent's house overlooking laguna bay and a baby cat perched on the outside window of my old room)

going to the cemetery, there was the heavy traffic. i do not know what could be more obvious. there is simply too many people. too many cars littered the road. pourtant, l'église catholique ne soutient pas le RH bill malgré que 71% des catholiques ne sont pas en accord avec l'église, malgré que les misinformation de l'église catholique.
au cimetière, je remarque la poubelle sous chaque arbre. je ne peux pas croire ces gens qui vient censément pour presenter ses respects aux leur morts . i do not believe these people who came here to supposedly pay their respects. everywhere was trash to which the ants, nature's way of cleaning up, have started to work on. people are pigs.
i saw someone's grave dated almost the same age as i was. i wondered what his life was like? another was only a month old. another spanning decades even before the 2 great wars. another was cleaned, well kept, grass green and healthy - evidently well taken cared of. the marble stone of another was worn out long forgotten. i imagined the family members or friends who used to visit him must have gone abroad or have died out. and this must be ultimately the reason for the chinese to have built mausoleums - to prolong the memories of the dead. this is why families celebrate their memories.
and yet this is to be our fate (all of us) - to be forgotten sooner or later.
